How OpenPaths keeps Helix current
Helix uses OpenPaths Latest as a gateway model route so the application can stay current without tying the user interface to every provider release. The UI shows stable labels such as “OpenPaths Latest”, “GLM Latest”, and “Gemini Latest”; provider-specific identifiers remain implementation details.
This separation makes upgrades safer. OpenPaths can move the latest route forward while Helix preserves request validation, fallback ordering, chart checks, and compatibility aliases for older clients. A temporary upstream failure therefore degrades to a known route instead of exposing a stale or invalid model choice.
Users still have control when it matters: the harness, model family, and reasoning level are independent selections. The default remains the Codex-compatible harness with automatic reasoning, while OpenPaths supplies the current model route and keeps the system ready for future releases.
